Hey!
Please enjoy this presentation of my art test, completed for Digital Extremes in approximately 50 hours.
The concept provided showcased a Portable Computer asset and the technical breakdown requested a 2000 triangle limit and a 1k texture set.
The process I used was a traditional High to Low poly bake, but did explore using trim sheet texturing on it. I found that to get the detail I wanted from the concept that using the preferred trim workflow would've blown the 2k triangle limit out of the water, so I instead showcased the trim workflow coupled with tiling textures on the surrounding diorama instead; that way I could showcase the multiple methods without breaking any specs!
The diorama was kept simple and built to bring focus to the art test asset itself, but did double up to allow me to showcase some further skills than the art test's breakdown would've allowed.
Modeled in 3dsMax, Baked in Marmoset, Textured in Substance Painter and presented in Unreal Engine 4.
The trim sheet that I quickly mocked up for testing, and ultimately used on the diorama, was created in Houdini, for fun!
